A child decides to stop at the park on his way home. He meets his friend at the playground.

Bob (the marble) needs to get from point A, the bottom of the chairlift, to point B, the lodge, but there are obstacles in his way. An avalanche falls and hits one side of the lever, propelling the other side upwards and activating the pulley, which is a chairlift. This helps Bob get up the iceberg and through the obstacles, which are examples of inclined planes. 

This is our first sketch. We outlined the course of the penguin, as well as where we would incorporate our simple machines. Points A and B are circled on the diagram.

This is our materials list. We made it right after our drawing in order to get organized and take the next step towards building the prototype of our obstacle course.

Unfortunately we ran out of time and were not able to upload a video of our obstacle course in action, but you can still try it out on your own! To start the course, release the avalanche from the cup at the top of the mountain on the right.

Stewie was going skiing, and he realized it was not a normal ski hill. He had to avoid obstacles. He had to make it back to the bottom safely 3 times to make the mission a success.

STORY

Our presentation displays the 2 of the following mechanisms; Wheel & Axle and Pulley. The pulley will be the lift back to the top of the hill. The wheel and axle will be the obstacles designed as trees. The inclined plane is used to be the ski slope, and as a way to get Stewie back into the lift.

The Concept

The school stairs are crowded and hectic. A school escalator would solve that problem. Using a wheel and axle with a screw walkway on the outside, our New School Escalator is perfect for that purpose
