Brainstorm Project Ideas

Instructions

Part 1: Brainstorm Project Ideas!

Now that you've learned about the impact of packaging and how to make bioplastics, you're going to come up with a ton of ideas about how you can create a future with less waste from single-use plastics.

Individually, take 5 minutes to come up with as many bioplastic packaging ideas as you can. The more ideas, the better! If you get stuck, try to re-imagine the packaging you commonly receive (e.g, from shopping, shipping packages, food take-out containers, makeup/grooming products) and consider new and creative ways these products could be contained. Imagine if plastic yogurt pots were made of bio-plastics containing seeds, they could be used as plant pots and put in the ground after use, where they would biodegrade and sprout flowers! ...

Part 2: Share Out Ideas

In small groups, share out your ideas with one another. What ideas are you most excited to share? What ideas did you hear that resonated with you?

Next, you'll share two ideas (or more!) with the class. Your teacher will write the ideas on the board - and connect them with a dotted line - similar ideas. Any idea shared to the board is available for selection!

Deliverable

At the end of this activity, select a couple of the ideas from the board that you want to work on. Your teacher will form teams of 2 based on project interest.
